Artist Spotlight: Larkin Poe

Following the release of their brand new album Bloom, we caught up Larkin Poe, comprised of sisters Rebecca and Megan Lovell, to chat about new music, the best thing about playing in Scotland, and what to expect from their upcoming gig in Glasgow...
Released in January, your latest album Bloom marks a new chapter in your music. How does this album reflect where you are musically right now, and what do you want listeners to take away from it?
ML: The biggest commitment Rebecca and I made in the writing and making of Bloom was to be as honest as we possibly could. We wanted to dig deeper to unearth and share more of ourselves through the lyrics and melodies…and I feel that we did. The human experience is a shared experience, so our hope would be that listeners might find a little bit of themselves in the songs as well.
Where do you usually find inspiration for your songs?
RL: Everyday life! The (almost) constant movement of being in a touring band provides an ever-changing backdrop of experience from which to draw inspiration.
What can fans expect at your upcoming O2 Academy Glasgow show on Saturday 18th October?
ML: We’re rolling up to party! We’ve put together a super fun and dynamic show featuring the new music from Bloom — as well as some old favourites — and we hope folks will bring their dancing shoes.
Best thing about playing in Scotland?
RL: The rugged, natural beauty of the terrain! (Also, y’all’s accents.)
What’s next for you? Do you have any exciting plans you can tell us about?
ML: We're so excited to launch into the final leg of the 'Bloom' tour and carry this show across the UK and Europe for 6 weeks. Once the tour wraps, we're going to be camped out in Nashville working on new music to keep up warm through the winter, so we hope folks will stay tuned continue to share a piece of the road with us!
