Perrie was always destined to be a big vocal artist. Before she sang her way to global fame in Little Mix as a teenager, she grew up with a dad in a gigging rock band and a mum who performed in social clubs. Instead of having singing lessons her mum encouraged Perrie to discover her own vocal tone and style. “Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Kelly Clarkson, Christina Aguillera—they’re my biggest inspiration,” says Perrie. “All those big divas. I would sit in my room just trying to hit those notes. I don't think I'd leave my room until I got it. They, to me, were goddesses”   The world might know her as the self-assured Perrie from Little Mix, a group that boasts 3 Brit Awards over 17.49 million albums sales globally & 29.6 billion worldwide streams. However, her experience in one of the best-selling girl groups of all time was also transformative for a younger girl who was naturally shy and unsure of her immense talents. “I was only 16 when I first auditioned. Being put in a group was the best thing that could’ve happened to me for believing in my talents. They were my sisters, and older than me so wise in my eyes,” she remembers.

In 2021 Perrie became a mother for the first time to her son Axel. “I felt so lucky to be a mum and I wanted to enjoy it because for the past 11 years my life has been so chaotic and constantly planned out for me day in and day out,” she says. Between letting go of the comfort blanket of her group of girls, birthing and raising a child and launching a successful solo career last year, this rapid expansion period has seen her confidence grow to new heights.

In 2024 Perrie launched her solo music career with the smash hit single 'Forget About Us'. The single was Top 10 in the UK and has had over 51 million streams to date. Perrie then released several other tracks in 2024 culminating in an amazing 98 million streams overall and a solo album was on the horizon. However, during the Christmas break in 2024 Perrie decided to pause her solo music career and take some time out to think about the direction of her music.

She went back into her home studio and focused on finding a sound that she was truly happy with, spending the last 9 months working hard with a close circle of writers and producers to find her lane, changing many of the songs that were going to be on the album she was originally going to release. Previously, Perrie shied away from songwriting in Little Mix as she didn't have the confidence in her abilities, but through working on her debut album, her extensive songwriting contributions surprised even her. Across the eclectic and diverse record she had a heavy hand in creating, there are nods to her rock n roll-influenced childhood, guitar led tracks and a hint of country, 80s and of course bright, bold pop. The unifying thread is Perrie’s strong, soaring vocals that fearlessly grapple with each melody and top note. "Going into sessions as a solo artist now and being able to say what I want and I feel is just the most amazing experience. I never had the confidence to do that before, but this process has allowed me to believe in myself and explore all my different emotions and different parts of my life.”  With her forthcoming debut album ‘PERRIE’ she has created a strong body of work with a unified sound - her most personal and autobiographical songs to date.  Whether sensitive or powerhouse - Perrie's distinctive vocals stand proud as she emotes her way through songs that tell her story so far...
