The shining stars of the NME Awards - who are they?

After a year of silence due to the pandemic, the annually held NME Awards was back this year with the promise of the "wildest night in music" – and damn right it was! Now let’s take a look at our nominees and winners. There’s gigs coming up that you surely would not want to miss!

You have to check out Chvrches and Robert Smith legendary performance - the band won the award for 'The Best Song by a UK Artist' and was nominated for 'The Best Band From The UK: Supported by Pizza Express' category as well as for 'The Best Band In The World' category!

Best Music Video

Foals emerged in the late 2000s with an off-balance indie rock influenced by catchy new wave, math rock, and atmospheric post-rock. It proved a successful formula - the band is still doing better than ever, having just won the award for the 'Best Music Video' category.

While Foals made the cut for the best music video, Wet Leg & Billie Ellish were two of our artists who were also nominated for this category!

Wet Leg was also nominated in the categories of 'Best New Act from the UK:  Supported by Music Venue Artist', 'Best New Act in the World: Supported by Cano Water', 'Best Song By a UK Artist' and 'Best Song in the World'. If you've not already grabbed tickets for their show then, now is the time.

Billie Eilish was also nominated for 'Best Solo Act in the World' and 'Best Festival Headliner'.

SAM FENDER

The star who got to take home awards in both 'Best Album Of The World' and 'Best Album By A UK Artist' categories for his 'Seventeen Going Under' album had a great night with nominations in three other categories! 

The star will be playing at the upcoming TRNSMT Festival 2022 - if festivals are your thing, this is not one to miss!

Best New Act in the World: Supported by Cano Water

Olivia Rodrigo went on to win an award in the category mentioned above while Bad Boy Chiller Crew and Wet Leg were nominees! The young musician will play at Glasgow's O2 Academy in July 2022 but, if you don't already have tickets, you're too slow! Tickets flew out the door for this highly anticipated gig! 

 

Who's the best band in the world? According to NME, it's Fontaines D.C!

The band won the 'Best Band in the World' gong - if you'd like to see the world's best band play live near you, then keep an eye out here!

We all love a good collab, so we're feeling quite proud to see two of our favs, Griff x Sigrid sweep up the award for 'Best Collaboration' for Head on Fire!

Best Solo Acts 

With Little Simz taking home the award for this category, other nominees for this category included Dave & Sam Fender.

Only 24 years old and she has already released two critically acclaimed award-winning albums independently, toured the world, and has received praise from her musical peers and inspirations including the likes of Kendrick Lamar! The young star will be playing at this year's highly anticipated Connect Festival, so make sure to get tickets here!

Best Festival Headliner

While Billie EIlish and Liam Gallagher were nominated for an award at this category - Wolf Alice managed to beat their competitors to win the award. You can keep an eye on their upcoming gigs here.

The band was also nominated for awards in the categories of 'Best Album in the World', 'Best Album by a UK Artist', 'Best Band in the World' and 'The Best Band From The UK: Supported by Pizza Express'.

Best Live Act
