After staging one of the biggest pop comebacks in recent memory, Sugababes, aka Mutya, Keisha and Siobhán, have morphed into one of the country's biggest live exports. They've headlined festivals (including London's Mighty Hoopla in the summer of 2022), performed in Europe and Australia multiple times over, and embarked on their first ever sold out arena tour in 2025. Most notably, the band and their coterie of genre-less, effervescent and reliably cool classics (‘Overload’, ‘Push the Button’, ‘Round Round’, the list goes on), shut down Glastonbury – not once but twice – with both the Avalon and West Holt stages unable to deal with the demand from a fanbase both old and new. What they haven't had is a new Sugababes album; one that showcases the band's individuality in an increasingly stacked musical landscape, cementing them at the forefront of forward-thinking pop. All that changes now, however, with the release of the tellingly-titled, Sugababes, a twelve-track statement of intent chiefly produced by Grammy-winner Jon Shave (Charli XCX, Miley Cyrus). It's an album chock full of the kind of personality-packed, cutting edge pop that somehow feels effortless. On the typically shape-shifting, hard-to-pin down banger of a lead single ‘Ghost’, the trio deliver a scathing kiss-off to an ex ("I even changed the linen / But you're still fucking in it" purrs Mutya at one point) over a head-knocking musical backdrop.
