Glasgow-based modern nu-core band Lo Rays blends catchy hooks, glitchy electronics and metal riffs. Known for their post-apocalyptic visuals, the band has attracted attention through DIY green screen videos - including an Instagram reel that drew over 1.4 million views. They have recently joined the Denmark-based rock and metal label Prime Collective.

In March 2026, Lo Rays released their new EP RE:BIRTH SEQUENCE. The EP has a vocal feature from Mirza Radonjica of Danish metalcore band Siamese. Tracks from RE:BIRTH SEQUENCE have received regular radio play on BBC Radio 1, Kerrang! and Radio X. “Cease and Desist” was chosen “Track of the Week” by Alyx Holcombe on BBC Introducing Rock. Recognised for their hard work over the last year, Lo Rays were 1 of the 5 finalists for BBC Introducing Scotland “Act of the Year” 2026.

Known for their theatrical performances often featuring dancers, live visuals, and post-apocalyptic storylines - Lo Rays have supported acts such as I See Stars, VUKOVI, and North Atlas. They’ve also played The Alternative Escape (as part of The Great Escape), Alyx Holcombe’s MANTRA, and in 2025 they played their first European show at Pro Weekend Fest in Spain. Lo Rays was chosen to play SXSW London 2026 and took part in Wide Days Talent Development Programme.

Finnish songwriter Laura Takala formed Lo Rays in 2018 after moving to Glasgow to follow her dream to make music in the footsteps of her heroes Biffy Clyro. She met Scott Bathgate (guitar), Ryan Jones (bass) and Murray Bartle (drums) at a local gig.
