Growing up in Hackney to musician parents, Bertie didn't begin writing songs until he was 18, when he discovered music as a direct outlet for experiences that were difficult to express elsewhere. Influenced by artists including Bon Iver, Ben Howard, Gregory Alan Isakov and Hozier, his music is rooted in honest storytelling, gentle instrumentation and emotional intimacy.

Following a busy touring year in 2025, supporting Ocie Elliott, Dotan and Ryan Harris across the UK and EU, Bertie will soon join Kodaline for their upcoming UK, Ireland and European tour.

With his tender indie-folk sound and growing international fanbase, Bertie Newman is quietly becoming one of the UK’s most exciting emerging artists — inviting listeners into the heart of his story, one song at a time.
