NEW MUSIC THIS WEEK

It’s our favourite time of the week… New Music Friday! Head over to our Spotify channel and check out our New Music Friday playlist to hear the latest releases from our Gigs in Scotland touring artists.

Post-genre art and music visionary Poppy has shared a new single 'I Won’t Be Home For Christmas' in anticipation of a fast impending new four song EP A Very Poppy Christmas, out December 1st from Sumerian Records. The EP represents yet another unexpected pivot for the boundlessly creative artist, trading in the bombast of her recent album I Disagree for an intimate lo-fi recording of hushed melancholia evoked by the season, imbibed with her characteristically indelible earworm vocal melodies

In what started as a sad poem with a bleak outlook has been transformed into a catchy funk track with a soulful strut. Emerging Glasgow artist Russell Stewart spoke of the song by saying “Citrus is a song of self-acceptance. It’s about letting go of doubts and inhibitions and finding your zest for life.” Amen to that!

‘Monster’ is a heavyweight collab of Shawn Mendes and Justin Bieber. The new song has been accompanied by a video which sees the Canadian singers deliver an emotional performance of a song which deals with the pitfalls of a rapid rise to fame and fortune. Mendes’ forthcoming album Wonder is due for release on December 4th. One to look forward to on the strength of ‘Monster’ and earlier single ‘Wonder’

LA artist KennyHoopla has joined forces with superstar drummer Travis Barker on ‘ESTELLA.’ The result is a short sharp burst of pop-punk from one generation to the next – awesome work! Kenny is just one of a host of artists that has been announced to play at The Road To The Great Escape Festival in May. The brand new live music showcase features an array of exciting new talent that will be stopping by in Glasgow in the lead up to The Great Escape 2021 in Brighton. Tickets available here

‘nhs’ is a poignant new track from slowthai who calls it “a reminder to always appreciate what you have whilst you have it.” thai has also announced new album TYRON, the follow-up to 2019 debut Nothing Great About Britain, which is set for release on February 5th via Method Records. Guests include the likes of Skepta, A$AP Rocky and Dominic Fike. Sure to be a cracker
