Artist Spotlight: COIN

Artist Spotlight: COIN

Nashville based trio COIN have a headline show at SWG3 on Thursday 31st Aug. We caught up with frontman Chase Lawrence ahead of the show…

Tell us a bit about your newest album ‘Uncanny Valley’..?

It’s an album about what it means to be human :)

Are there any artists in particular that have inspired COIN’s music most? Who and why?
We are such an amalgamation of so much music we love. It’s hard to know what all has truly influenced us over the years. Over a life, it’s a wide scope, and we still continue to discover new little corners of untapped inspiration. But, we will always look up to our heroes in bands like The Cure & The Cars.

Which artist would you love to collaborate with in the future? Who and why?
I said it above, possibly… Robert Smith? His trueness to himself has inspired us for years.

You’ve played a few shows in Glasgow now, what is your favourite part about coming over here to play?
I’m not just saying this. I feel like Glasgow is my favorite city to play in. The architecture, the feeling, the people — something special about this place. I’ll never forget playing the Hydro last year with 5SOS. I felt so at home for being so far away from it. In short, my favorite part is all of it.

For fans that haven’t seen you live before, what can they expect from the COIN show at SWG3?
I think for us, it’s always been a bit of a moving target what to get at a show. Right now, I hope you can expect the loudest, most loving show you’ve ever been to. We’re feeling good. Hope you do, too.
