With his unique three-octave male soprano voice that's equal parts choir boy and soul boy, Andrew Montgomery first made waves as lead singer with Britpop-era band Geneva. Precocious from the off, they supported Suede to rapturous reviews before they even had a name, with their demo appearing in NME's list of office turn-ons under the prosaic alias "The Scottish Band". After the christening, they signed to Sony, and Andrew led Geneva to four emotive Top 40 singles (‘Tranquilizer’, ‘No-One Speaks’, ‘Best Regrets’, 'Into the Blue’) and two critically adored albums (‘Further' and 'Weather Underground’) between 1996 and 2001.

After a decade of silence, of love and loss, of uncertainty and of determination, Andrew Montgomery finally returns with his dbut solo album Ruled By Dreams.
Ruled By Dreams is a rich, swooning suite of space gospel music, pairing astonishing vocals, woozy soundscapes & lush orchestration with big hooks on a big canvas. It's an album of ten fiercely individual songs which anatomise the shooting star arc of a passionate but doomed relationship, tenderly capturing its joy, sorrow, madness and, in the end, healing. It's music for anyone who has a heart, a “Here, My Dear” for the new century.
Listen to the bruised yet dignified New Orleans funeral-march blues of opener ‘After The Storm’, the tender erotic hymn ‘I Sing The Body Electric’ or the lovestoned country soul of title track ‘Ruled By Dreams’. Or hear Montgomery's soaring falsetto finding a magnanimity in spite of it all on the widescreen modern pop of forthcoming single 'Sorry Someday'.
Ruled By Dreams was produced by Sean McGhee (Robyn, Imogen Heap, Alison Moyet.) The album features Suede's Richard Oakes on guitar, elegant vocals from Ryksopp & Schiller collaborator Kate Havnevik, plus contributions from Ben Ellis (Catherine Wheel) and Jody Gadsden & Simon Neilson from Autoheart (best known for their 2013 singles ‘Moscow’ & ‘The Sailor Song’.)
The album receives a worldwide digital and streaming release on 5th October 2014. A highly limited CD edition will be available exclusively from andrewmontgomery.bandcamp.com.
