2013 has seen the Oxfordshire four piece MMX progress at a dramatic rate - most recently being chosen to support The 1975 on their September UK tour and having already performed at Reading & Leeds and T in the Park festivals earlier in the summer - it would seem few bands emerge in such a fully formed and conscious state as MMX.
Following debut EP ‘Child’ with a continuation on their lyrical story in EP2, ‘Heir’ also continues to impress with it's finely balanced emotion and atmospherics. A percussive intro pattern pulls the listener in to the lead single 'Only', who is soon enveloped with lush instrumentation, air-tight production and an emotive vocal. "At just shy of six minutes in length, 'Only' is a bit longer than your average pop song but it is fair to say it is a bit better than your average pop song as well" (Alphabet Bands).
Before the year is out MMX will complete another 8 date headline tour around the UK, so expect more "cinematic guitars, airy synths, stimulating beats and stunning vocals that collectively should give you the chills” (Indie Shuffle).
