Gabrielle Aplin will release her debut album for Parlophone Records on May 13th. Entitled English Rain, the album was recorded with Mike Spencer (Rudimental, Alex Clare) in his Buckingham studio over a period of 6 months. Gabrielle wrote or co-wrote all the new songs on the album, and played the majority of the instruments herself. Following on from her second single Please Don’t Say You Love Me, which debuted at #6 on the singles chart, English Rain is preceded by a third single Panic Cord, scheduled for release on May 6th.
With her March 2013 tour entirely sold out, and fresh from supporting Ed Sheeran in Australia, Gabrielle has announced her largest ever tour for November 2013. She will play the following:
A whipsmart self taught 20 year old singer songwriter from Bath, Gabrielle has been writing and recording songs since she was 15. Growing up in a (self confessed) ‘hippy’ household where music was a family staple, she honed her craft listening to Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen and Nick Drake. At 17 she set up her own label Never Fade Records (just recently she announced her first signing), and went on to release 3 EPs, all of which charted on iTunes. She currently has in excess of 29 million Youtube views to date. Her debut single, the cover of Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s The Power Of Love, went to #1 on the singles chart in December 2012.
On her songwriting Gabrielle says, “It can take minutes, hours or weeks. Each one is different, but I’ve been working on this album now for months, from writing to recording – even being involved with the artwork – and I can’t wait for everyone to finally hear it.”
