Borders Music & Comedy Festival
As the Borders Music and Comedy festival draws nearer, the event’s line up continues to grow with the addition of a fashion show, screening of ‘The Sweeney’ and a very special ‘Shark Batter’ night bringing together the top independent bands from The Borders.
First up on Friday 5th at the Victoria Hall in Selkirk, ‘Thank Fawkes It’s Friday’ is a Guy Fawkes themed fashion-show which promises to be a truly entertaining night of fashion and comedy. With support from Radio Borders, Heriot-Watt staff and students from the School of Textiles & Design are hosting the event in an exciting collaboration with Borders Music & Comedy Festival. With a guest comedian to compere the fashion show, the night is guaranteed to be a perfect blend of side- splitting humour and jaw-dropping fashion!
Also on Friday 5th, for connoisseurs of the best of Borders musical talent, is a special outing for the Shark Batter Night which will see performances from some of the best local bands including Katie Forbes from the Dull Fudds, The Bird and the Monkey and The Stark Palace. All of this will be peppered by DJ sets from Shark Batter DJ Jason Moyes.
One of the Festival’s closing credits will be a film screening of ‘The Sweeney’ at the Heart of Hawick on 7th November. A film based on the Life and Work of the Comedy Store player and Edinburgh Fringe Veteran, Jim Sweeney, who retired from performing in 2007 because of MS. He film includes interviews with Paul Merton, Greg Proops, Josie Lawrence and Eddie Izzard.
