So Many Animal Calls
“So Many Animal Calls are one of the best new Scottish bands out there and deserve the exposure.”
– John Dingwall, Daily Record
"There's no debate to be had whether these rising Scot alt rockers can make the step up to the big stage." – Jim Gellatly, The Scottish Sun
Glasgow based So Many Animal Calls have been hard at work touring up and down the country, sharing the stage with acts such as The Xcerts, Little Comets, [ME], and Biffy Clyro, to name a few.
Forming in early 2010, So Many Animal Calls hit the ground running, rehearsing and writing
relentlessly before building a small home recording set-up from anything they could get their hands on.
Hastily recording a 3-track demo EP, which was released July 2010, So Many Animal Calls
found themselves being awarded the Creative Scotland Demo Fund in Autumn 2010. This allowed them to record their debut full-length EP, ‘Eulogy’ with Jamie Savage at Chem 19 studios in Hamilton.
The bands debut single, Traps, was released in February 2012 on Overlook Records – home to the best rock music Scotland has to offer in the form of Crusades, Trapped in Kansas, The Darien Venture, and many more.
Accompanied by a music video, the single captured the attention of Huw Stephens and Jen Long at BBC Radio 1, and John Dingwall, head music editor of The Daily Record – who went on to offer the band a slot on the Main Stage of 2012’s Rockness festival.
After blowing festival-goers away on Sunday 10th June alongside fellow Scottish rockers Biffy Clyro, So Many Animal Calls embarked on a tour of Scotland, and ventured down to London in August, where they played 2 packed back-to-back shows.
So Many Animal Calls released ‘She Was Speaking From The Bottom Of The Sea’ via Overlook Records on 3rd December 2012.
She Was Speaking From The Bottom Of The Sea is the lead track from their forthcoming EP ‘Almost Something Is Better Than Nothing’, due out Autumn 2013.
